The Samsung Galaxy A3 was released in 2014 in December. It served as an entry in the A-line, along with Samsung Galaxy A5, which closely resembled the metal design started with the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The Samsung Galaxy A3 boasts of fine specifications, and offers a decent experience to the user. The phone is able to support LTE and closely resembles both A5 and A7, with some toned down features.
Design & Display
The Samsung Galaxy A3 boasts of a metal unibody, and resembles the other two models in the A-line up. It feels premium and comfortable when held in hand. The device’s measurements is 130.1 x 65.5 x 6.9 mm, with a weight of 110.3g, which feels comfortable and light.
The screen size of the device is 5.0 Inches, and has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels,with a pixel per inch density of 245. A Super AMOLED type of display is used in the phone’s screen, with the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 panel resting on the display. The screen appears decent with its ppi close to 250 and thanks to the Super AMOLED display. The viewing angles are also decent from all angles.
Software and Hardware
The Samsung Galaxy A3runs on the Android operating system, along with its own UI skinned on top of it. The device’s premium hardware paired up along with the latest Android OS is able to deliver a lag-free experience. The device is also expected to get the latest Android updates as soon as they are made public.
The phone will be running on the Android Lollipop v4.4.4 Operating system, further upgradeable to Android Lollipop v5.0.2 and will come powered with a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset, with the processor being Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53. The graphical processing unit will be powered by an
Adreno 306 chipset.
The device becomes available only in one storage variant. The Samsung Galaxy A3 will have an optional MicroSD slot for expanding the storage up to 64 GB for storing media such as audio and video, but the dual-SIM slot must be sacrificed in doing so. The unlocked cellphone will come in two variants, with different amount of RAM, which can help people multi-task without experiencing any shutters or lag.
The unlocked cellphone will be having 16 GB of internal storage for installing applications. 1 GB(in SM-A300F) or 1.5 GB (in SM-A300FU) of RAM will be provided for running applications and multi-tasking between them.
The Samsung Galaxy A3will come with an 8 Megapixel rear-facing camera, with an f/2.4 aperture and length of 31mm. The camera is equipped with a LED flash, and autofocus capabilities. It will also be able record HD videos of 1080p at 30 fps.An 5 MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, and length of 23mm will also be available in the device capable of recording decent quality video.
The unlocked cellphone will be supporting a non-removable 1900 mAh battery, which will most likely be able to offer a battery backup of one day with moderate usage.
