Sony stepping into the mid-range
Sony has been releasing unlocked cellphones, bracketing in the mid-range price category, primarily to capture a larger share in the pie. Owing to the loss in laptop manufacturing, the company decided to shift back its focus on the PlayStation and Xperia line-up. Sony has released a couple of Android powered smartphones, targeting the audience as mentioned above.
Sony Xperia C5 Ultra
Sony Xperia C5 Ultra is an upcoming unlocked cellphone by the company. The phone has not been announced or teased yet, however, many trusted sources have already leaked the device way ahead of initial launch. The Sony Xperia C5 ultra is codenamed as “Sony Lavender”, as stated by upleaks. A number of self-made renders were also tweeted, claiming them to resemble the actual final product. The front part of the phone somewhat looks like a blend of Xperia Z3 and Xperia Arc. The screen panel is a 5.5-inch one, with seemingly very less bezels. The resolution of screen will be 1920×1080, along with bundled will be Sony’s Bravia and Trimluminos Engine.
The phone is claimed to have 2GB of RAM installed, which will be backed a MediaTek processor to cut down on costs, not performance. Snapdragon processors are neglected due to their high costs for the specifications they provide, unlike MediaTek, which provides a perfect combination of both the factors. The processor seems to be a MT6595 SoC, however, the clock speeds are not confirmed. If so, four low power cores and four high power cores will power the phone, both comined makes an octa-core processor. The processor is based on 64-bit architecture.
The phone will entertain selfie lovers, as seen in the images and megapixel count. The front camera lens seems to sport a large aperture sensor, allowing more light to come in at a particular point of time. The expected megapixel count is 13, with a flash on the front. The rear camera will be a 13MP Snapper too, which can be the same one as found on OnePlus One. There is not further information leaked on the video recording capabilities of either of the cameras, whether it will support 4K or slow-motion or not, bets being on the negative side.
The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra will be a country specific device only, which means that only selected areas will be the phone commercially made available in. The phone will run on latest version of Android, i.e. Lollipop, which will make full use of the 64-bit architecture, supported being added.
Locked and Unlocked Variant
The Xperia C5 will be launched only as an unlocked cellphone variant, as per the reports go. However, nothing can be confirmed as of now, being prediction made.
The smartphone will for sure support 4G, 3G and 2G networks. Other features will include a Bluetooth v4.1 module, dual-band Wi-Fi, IR Blaster, Single Sim Quad-Band support, microSD Card Slot, 16GB of internal memory.
The phone will supposedly giving a hard time to the OnePlus One in the camera department, the sensor being made by Sony.
